New Cotswold Stone House
This new Cotswold Stone House is conceived as a contemporary interpretation of a Cotswold vernacular house, contextual yet contemporary responding directly to its site within a Conservation Area and the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The design references the traditional materials and proportions of local stone buildings without resorting to imitation, instead expressing a modern interpretation of regional character.
Large, well-framed openings establish strong connections to the surrounding countryside, inviting light and landscape into the interior while offering opportunities for passive natural ventilation. The architecture combines local material expression with sustainable principles, including low-energy performance and form-based response to context, resulting in a house that is both rooted in place and confidently contemporary.
