York House Garden Design
At York House, we transformed a steeply sloping garden into a series of carefully composed outdoor spaces that respond to topography, movement, and everyday use. The design resolves the change in level through a sequence of terraced platforms, each with its own character and purpose, linked by steps and retaining walls that are both functional and sculptural.

Central to the design is a swimming pool set within the landscape, forming a visual and social heart for outdoor living. Adjacent terraces provide space for dining and relaxation, while pathways and planting define transitions between more formal and more intimate garden rooms. All landscape structures, including retaining walls, steps, and garden features, are designed to feel integral to the site, reinforcing connection between the house and its surroundings.
Our dry-stone walling work at York House draws on reclaimed stone from the original garden, strengthening the sense of continuity and authenticity. Hands-on craftsmanship and local materials enrich the landscape design, grounding new interventions and contributing to cohesive, well-resolved outdoor environments that enhance daily life and long-term value.
